Sarah A. Johnson, M.D., F.A.C.C.
Dr. Sarah Johnson has always been involved in the cutting edge of interventional cardiology. She was the Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Loyola University Medical Center and a Professor for 25 years. She was passionate about learning the latest available medical procedures and passing that knowledge on to the cardiology fellows in training. Many of those cardiologists are now practicing in the Chicago and surrounding suburban areas.
This desire did not wane when she moved to the northwest suburbs in 1996 to become the Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Alexian Brothers Medical Center. If there was a new procedure available she was the first to learn the technique and bring it to the lab to be implemented and available to put in to practice. The desire to inspire other cardiologists continues as she proctors them in these new procedures. To this day there are cardiologists that come to spend time in the lab observing and learning by working side by side with her. Many of her colleagues will testify to the fact that the teacher in her is always available to review a film or ask for an expert opinion.
She has carried the passion of mastering the coronary arteries to other major arteries in the body. A stent in a carotid artery, a renal artery and even an aneurysm in the aorta are no stranger to her skills and expertise.
